The earliest memory I can recall of being creative.
I can picture myself wearing one of those plastic aprons in a preschool group, stood in front of an easel with bull clip holding a piece of paper to a board, brush in hand.
This is unfortunately when my visual memory gets hazy, I don't remember what I painted but the feeling a sense of enjoyment and excitement has stuck with me.
At the pivot point of academic choice it was a decision between following a creative path or a scientific one. My decision was to precede in the direction of physics whilst maintaining enthusiasm for art.
Fast forward to 2008, I found myself taking a chance to move a new city in the midst of a economic crisis, not the best timing. I took a job working in the arts and crafts section of a shop.
Those 37 and half hours a week engaging with and helping people further their creative endeavours was inspiring and exposed me to a wide range of tools and materials. Art supplies were purchased.
A limited amount of money drove me to a more considered approached, a idea would develop and evolve for weeks and months before paint would touch canvas.
Just over a year later the opportunity arose to prove an ability to work as a model maker in a architectural model making studio. I booked holiday and spent a week in the workshop demonstrating my skills and ingenuity.
Within a few months, I had become the workshop manager, overseeing and organising production of the models and work on all aspects of the models at the same time.
In August 2022, I relocated back to Sussex after 13 years in Wales to be closer to my family.
Iām looking for a new challenge that can make the best use of my skills and I am keen to work within a new team. Some of my strongest abilities are creativity problem solving and attention to detail. The last role I held constantly evolved as I took on more responsibilities adding more of a challenge as I gained experience.
